PASTRANA, Leyte -- Governor Mic Petilla's Leyte EconoMICs Program received the support of humanitarian aid organzation ONEVisayas, Inc. as the NGO begins its work to assist several farmers, irrigators, and livelihood associations in Pastrana. Beth Bevan, ONEVisayas' Logistics and Human Resource director told the Visayan Business Post that their engagement will involve close project implementation and coordination with the municipality's Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Alvin Opiniano, MD, in close cooperation with the farmers federation in Pastrana. Pastrana is the poorest town in the 2nd district of Leyte largely dependent in agriculture. Melba Bardillon, Leyte focal person for agriculture technology transfer trainings told VBP that the help of NGO's like ONEVisayas in social development work through agriculture interventions and psychosocial support is a vital and strategic approach towards the sucsessful prosecution of a sustainable inter-agency poverty alleviation program.
